This is now live and you can request to have this enabled.
A new checkbox will appear when the email is sent from a student profile or class page, and will log as a chronicle item on the student profile.
You can have this set as mandatory, enabled by default, or enabled, but the user has to check the box.
Simply email support@compass.education in order to have this feature enabled on your portal.

Allow Chronicle entries to be created automatically when sending communication to families via email or News Feed. A tick-box option would let staff choose this at the time of sending, ensuring consistent record-keeping, reducing duplicate work, and providing a complete communication history for each student.

At the moment, emails can be sent from a student page (eg: email parents), but then it disappears. It should come up as a chronicle that an email was sent so that staff don't then need to document this.
