Bit of a process but you could create a custom flag for suspended students then associate the custom flag in the late note template and add the relevant staff member to be notified. I think you'd have to remove the student from the flag once suspension has ended. It seems to work in my brain anyway :-p

Also if a suspended student is marked present to class the relevant staff should be alerted. This happened last term where we had a student who had 'forgotten' they were suspended and went to class but their classroom teacher didn't flag it when they marked the roll
