In addition to seeing the subject colour, it can be quite difficult to read the text when the faculty colours are similar or when a darker colour is used, particularly if schools are trying to align faculty colours with those used by SCSA (DoE WA). In those cases, the contrast can make the subject text hard to read at a glance.

Would it be possible to consider an alternative approach, such as displaying the faculty / subject colour as a narrow band on the right-hand side of the subject box? This would still allow faculties to be easily identified while keeping the main body of the subject box clear and readable.

Just a thought that might help balance visibility with usability.
