Hey everyone!
Teachers can now easily spot when a student is celebrating their birthday while marking the roll! A small cake icon will appear next to a student’s name on any roll and on the student’s profile page when their date of birth matches the current date. Displayed in the flags area alongside existing flags such as medical conditions, this quick visual cue helps teachers acknowledge students’ special days without needing to check additional details.

Please no... this is a GDPR issue - if a student see's my roll with a birthday symbol beside another student, then the school has leaked the birthday of that other student. please do not implement this feature.

Andrew Finger: Hi Andrew, if you have any chance of a student seeing your screen we would recommend you use Privacy mode (enabled in the menu bar) as there can be a lot more personal information displayed than a birthday.

Jerome Muldoon hi, privacy mode doesn't hide flags in a roll call. I have it enabled all the time but when I open a roll call, it doesn't prevent the children in class from seeing that other students in the class are flagged as having. Learning difficulties, over18, absent due to bereavement, etc.... so privacy mode needs to be fixed also. Plus, not every teacher will enable it, so please done add this feature.

Andrew Finger I think screen visibility in a classroom is something teachers need to actively manage themselves regardless of what features are implemented. Enhancing privacy mode would be a bonus though.

Aidan Edwards I fully agree. You have to plan for colleagues who don't think of these things. Maybe, if privacy mode in roll calls could be enabled by default with a "peak" function... Teachers click on a blurred out area of the screen to momentarily see what's obscured.

Andrew Finger its a training issue with teachers- we have had to give significant training to staff about not sharing their Compass screen - at any time, including when marking the roll. Even disclosing any roll flags could be considered breach of privacy. We encourage our staff to open Compass in an Incognito browser, which prevents most screen sharing products from accidentally sharing the incognito browser
