Problem:
When a parent updates their address within Update My Details, each parent in the household must update their own address separately, and one of the parents must also update the address details for each of their children. This can result in inconsistent household address information when a parent forgets to update all family members or assumes the change will automatically apply to everyone in the household. Schools are then required to follow up with families to confirm whether the address change applies to all household members, creating additional administrative effort.
Suggested Solution:
Where a parent from a non-split family household updates their address details within Update My Details, provide a checkbox such as "Apply this address change to all family members in this household". When selected, the updated address should be applied to both parents and all associated children within the household. For split-family arrangements, the checkbox should either be hidden or only apply the change to the children for whom the parent has custody or responsibility.
Benefit:
This enhancement would simplify the address update process for parents, reduce the likelihood of inconsistent address records across family members, improve data accuracy within Compass, and significantly reduce the administrative workload associated with reviewing and following up address changes. It would also provide a more intuitive user experience by aligning the update process with how families typically expect household address changes to be managed.
